We started developing this music in a period with no concerts, tours or recordings in sight. We were in the thick of a pandemic void with no idea as to when or even if “normal” would return. We just went on with the bizarreness of the times and immersed our musical selves together in a little bubble at “Murray Street”, the music studio of the late drummer/painter John Heward in the house of visual artist Sylvia Safdie. This became a “safe” haven, a kind of clubhouse where friends could meet up and play on an unusually consistent basis because our time was…free. So then was this music. It felt so good to play, lost in the present, the only thing we knew was that it felt good to keep playing in the blur of time passing, month after month… We played and recorded a lot of music between January 16 and April 25, 2021. And we listened, thought, talked, and wrote so much about this music that the only obvious thing left was to share it with you.
